The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas recently hired Nikki Duffney as the association’s new membership and benefits specialist.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Morris with a degree in business management, Duffney has spent the last six years coordinating the membership department at the Independent Natural Food Retailers Association, an organization representing organic food retailers. She says the time in the role exposed her to a wide array of challenges facing small, independent businesses — as well as resources to help ease the day-to-day demands challenging team leaders and managers.
“I’m thrilled to join the talented team here at MRAA and look forward to advancing the mission of providing North America’s marine retailers with the most complete set of tools available to maximize profit and sell more boats,” Duffney said.
Duffney has already begun auditing the MRAA membership database and assessing the association’s needs and strengths.
“Having Nikki join our staff allows MRAA to enhance immediately enhance our membership engagement, recruitment and retention,” MRAA President Matt Gruhn said. “Nikki dove right into her role, and I’ve been impressed with her willingness to take ownership of our membership support. I’m confident our members will find her a useful resource as we continue adding value to MRAA membership.”
Helping boat dealerships maximize the benefits included in their MRAA membership will be a key component of Duffney’s job, and she has already begun connecting with dealership principals and active MRAA members to familiarize herself with the retail boating landscape and gather feedback.
“I want our members to view me as an extension of their staff — and urge each MRAA member to reach out with any questions about their membership or how to take advantage of our benefits,” she said.
