Same-store boat dealers sales down again in June

Boat dealers saw sales drop for the second month in a row in June.

Overall sales fell 3.3 percent year-over-year, following a 7.4 percent decline in May, the largest one-month drop since the economic recovery began. That’s according to the latest report from CDK Global Recreation, which is based on data from users of the company’s Lightspeed software.

The decline was caused entirely by a drop in unit sales, which were down 3.9 percent in June. That followed an 8.2 percent decline in May. Unit sales has been up for each of the first four months of the year.

Parts and accessories revenue showed the strongest performance for the month, increasing 10.1 percent year-over-year. Parts revenue was the only category that increased in May, albeit by only 0.2 percent.

Service department revenue also bounced back, up 3.2 percent from 2015 for the month. Service revenue was down 0.7 percent in May.
