METS adds two members to exhibition committee

Yachticon general manager Andreas Tegeler and Lewmar CEO Peter Tierney have joined the METSTRADE Show Exhibition Committee, an advisory board made up of executives from both exhibiting and visiting companies.

Every year in January a member of the METSTRADE Exhibition Committee steps down after serving for between six and eight years, and a new member is welcomed. Each committee member can be called upon for an advisory and informative role regarding any of the strategic issues which have an impact on the METSTRADE Show. This includes concept and strategy, marketing, reports on industry developments and the appointment of new committee members. All these subjects and more are addressed at the committee meetings, which are held three times a year.

Tegeler is Yachticon’s general manager for sales. Based in Germany, Yachticon offers products for the care of yachts and caravans.

“In a world of fast changing markets, the METSTRADE Show is a crucial combination of tool, platform & marketplace,” said Tegeler. “As a member of the Exhibition Committee, I will endeavour to contribute to making the show even better – with new ideas to keep the boating market fiercely modern, and with smart responses to future challenges, for instance in online areas.”

Tierney is CEO and chairman of leisure marine equipment supplier Lewmar. He graduated as an engineer, has a master’s degree in business, and has occupied his current role at Lewmar since 2008. Over the past 20 years, Tierney has been a CEO in the oil & gas, aviation and marine engineering sectors, earning his stripes in international marketplaces which demand a high degree of customer focus. He has been involved in leisure and competitive sailing since childhood.

“I am delighted to be involved in the METSTRADE Exhibition Committee. I will endeavour to help the team maintain the show as the industry’s leading international B2B event, and keep the Lewmar premium brand prominently associated with it,” he said.

The new members were introduced during the recent Exhibition Committee meeting in Amsterdam. They replace Nigel Craine of Garmin.

“Nigel has provided invaluable advice and support over the years,” RAI Amsterdam maritime domain manager Irene Dros notes. “We were very pleased with his involvement and enthusiasm, and the value he added to the METSTRADE Show. We are pleased that the two new members are of such high calibre, and look forward to working together with Andreas and Peter. The input and contribution of these influential industry frontrunners will be greatly appreciated.”

The METSTRADE Exhibition Committee is chaired by RAI Amsterdam’s director of Exhibitions, who is accompanied by the general manager and product manager from the METSTRADE Project team. ICOMIA, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations, has special representation via a permanent seat given to its secretary general. Another five to six exhibitors represent the equipment manufacturer market, and one member represents visitors from different segments and regions. A guest member may also join the meetings on a yearly basis. New members are appointed and officially invited by RAI Amsterdam, based on the opinions and approval of all committee members.

At present, the Exhibitor Committee consists of the following members:

  • Permanent seat: Udo Kleinitz – ICOMIA
  • Vidar Aasestrand – Polyform
  • Pascal Cardi – NVequipment
  • Ernie Ellis – Sea-Fire Marine
  • Andrea Razeto – F.lli Razeto e Casareto SpA
  • Andreas Tegeler – Yachticon
  • Peter Tierney – Lewmar
