Freedom Boat Club adds new membership director

George Biastre, Jr. has joined Freedom Boat Club as membership director.

Biastre will be based at Julington Creek Marina and will be working closely with existing members, as well as cultivating relationships with new members and prospective members. He will be in charge of developing and implementing membership plans, creating member events, and will serve as the liaison between members and other Freedom Boat Club locations around the country.

Biastre grew up in Jacksonville and his love of the water dates back to childhood. He spent a lot of time on the Trout River and received his first boat, a canoe, when he was just 12 years old. Beginning with that canoe (which he still owns), Biastre’s father taught him boat safety and handling skills on a wide variety of watercraft. Since then, he has spent countless days navigating hundreds of the waterways, rivers, lakes, and springs in and around Florida.

Biastre worked in family-owned bike shops and hardware stores as a teen and worked as a general contractor’s assistant and in the airport car rental business while earning his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida. After college, he managed corporate accounts for a travel agency business and spent a decade in the tourism marketing industry where he helped local, state, and regional destinations attract new visitors and increase visitor spending.

Most recently, he served as publisher of several tourist publications, worked as the manager of business & audience development for a business magazine, and was the director of marketing for a technology company. He has also been involved in real estate investment.
