New categories added for Boat Builder Awards at METS
Two new award categories have been added to this year’s Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement in association with Raymarine, which is due to take place on November 16, the evening of the second day of the METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam.
The Environmental Initiative Award, sponsored by Scott Bader, and the Best Apprenticeship and Training Scheme Award will join the six initial award categories to be presented at a gala dinner in the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam.
Joint organizers IBI and METSTRADE are promising an even bigger and better event for 2016 to celebrate the innovators and pioneers in the business of boating
“Both the environment and how we train and develop the next generation of boatbuilders are key to the global wellbeing of the recreational marine business,” said IBI publishing director Nick Hopkinson. “We felt it only right that these two important agendas should be celebrated in their own right at these prestigious awards.”
Irene Dros, manager maritime METSTRADE at RAI Amsterdam, commented: “These two awards are about helping to safeguard the future of our industry. Minimising the environmental impact of our business is not just a moral obligation, but can make sound business sense too.”
Last year’s inaugural event, also headline sponsored by Raymarine, welcomed more than 200 guests who arrived via canal boats direct from the RAI exhibition center to enjoy a dinner themed around Dutch exploration accompanied by live music, all capped off by the awards ceremony itself.
More information about the awards, how to submit entries, the nomination process and to apply for tickets to the gala dinner is available on www.boatbuilderawards.com.
