Dr. Shrink raises funds for Relay for Life

On March 19, in joint effort with local Team Moose Tracks from the Moose Lodge No. 1128/2315, Dr. Shrink held a cornhole tournament where all proceeds went towards the Relay for Life by the American Cancer Society. Twenty-three teams came out to support the cause from all around the area. The tournament raised over $2,600 for the Relay for Life.

“We talked to some of the people in the area and they said we should do an indoor bags (cornhole) tournament because some of them want to play and that is where the idea came from,” said Melissa Spoor, HR manager at Dr. Shrink. “We were hoping for at least 20 teams and we got 23, so we are good with that number. The tournament style is double-elimination and we are paying out cash prizes for first and second prizes. There is $200 for first place, $100 for second place and we have trophies for the first three places.”

Dr. Shrink and the Manistee Moose Lodge made it a fun day to be able to support such a great cause. The event had a full concession stand, beverages, silent auction, and other giveaways available for the players and spectators with all proceeds going towards the Relay for Life.

“We at Dr. Shrink are well pleased with the excellent turnout at our first annual cornhole tournament,” Mike Stenberg, Dr. Shrink president and CEO, said. “The teams had a great time while the final tally for Relay For Life was just shy of $2,700.00. Of course, we had plenty of volunteers and sponsors to make the program come together. Thanks to everyone!”

Dr. Shrink is hoping to do another tournament at the Relay for Life on July 30 in Manistee, Mich. To view photos of the tournament, please visit the Dr. Shrink Facebook page.
