Mercury Marine introduces 40 and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke outboard engines

FOND DU LAC, Wis.– Mercury Marine has announced the global introduction of its new 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines. Engineered to deliver longer engine life while maintaining the power and performance necessary to get the job done, the company says the 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines provide enhanced features and are built for high-hour applications and to withstand harsh saltwater environments.

The 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines will be available globally in mid-2016.

Mercury says the SeaPro engines, with high displacement and lightweight design, deliver the performance required by commercial users and are validated to three times the engine durability of recreational engines. The new SeaPro engines also feature several engine improvements intended to increase durability and reliability, including a commercial grade fuel pump, flywheel magnet retainer, more durable upper mounts, stainless steel thermostat and an improved gas assist trim cylinder (on select models).

“Mercury’s latest SeaPro FourStroke outboard engine introduction enhances Mercury’s commitment to developing the most durable, most reliable four-stroke outboards for commercial applications,” said Marty Bass, vice president of Mercury category management. “With SeaPro we have not simply re-calibrated our existing product, we have made upgrades to enhance durability and performance and then tested those upgrades to withstand the harshest environments. Additionally, these engines are designed to be easy to maintain and deliver the outstanding fuel economy that is inherent to four-stroke technology.”

Along with Mercury’s exclusive multi-step paint process, the 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines come standard with an anodized driveshaft housing, which the company says further decreases the opportunity for corrosion and improves performance and life in harsh saltwater environments.

Mercury’s Command Thrust gearcase, which the company says creates a bigger footprint in the water and provides more leverage to control the boat, is standard on the new 40hp and 60hp SeaPro models. Its larger torpedo, combined with a bigger-diameter prop, can lift a heavy boat onto plane more easily and hold it there at lower speeds without impacting top speed. The gearcase oil drain is in the torpedo, which is intended to further simplify gearcase oil changes on the beach or in the shop.

All SeaPro models feature an extended commercial warranty and are backed by Mercury’s service network. A pictorial owner’s manual and pictorial under-cowl maintenance decal come standard.

SeaPro engines come packaged with a water-separating fuel filter, SC1000 SystemTach and Big Tiller (on select models) for the commercial user.

The new 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines complement the current 75, 90, 115 and 150hp SeaPro FourStroke engines that were released in 2015.
