Florida governor visits JRL Ventures/Marine Concepts

Florida Gov. Rick Scott visited JRL Ventures, Inc./Marine Concepts this week as part of his tour celebrating Florida adding more than a million jobs since 2010

More than 150 people listened as Scott discussed how he has asked the Legislature for $250 million for an economic development fund and $1 billion in tax cuts. The tax cuts would eliminate income taxes on manufacturing and retail businesses, reduce taxes on commercial leases, and permanently repeal sales taxes on manufacturing equipment.

CEO and Owner Bob Long said that tax cuts in Florida prompted him to expand his business into Manatee County.

“Moving to Sarasota was a risk, but thanks to the Manatee County government, the Manatee Economic Development Corporation, and Gov. Rick Scott we have been growing,” Long said. “I have been in business for approximately 40 years and appreciate the governor seeking relief on taxes and over regulation.”

Long added that over half of his customers are from out of state and bring millions of business dollars into Florida.

“We now employ approximately 250 people, which includes part-time and full-time employees, and have openings for 18 positions,” said president Matt Chambers. “This plan is just one more step to help companies employ more people and build their capital and business through tax benefits.”
