Connecticut budget includes boat tax exemptions

The state of Connecticut’s legislature passed a new state budget earlier this month that reduced a number of taxes as the state works to combat a reputation as unfriendly to business.

Among those tax cuts, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reports, are some that will benefit the boating industry.

The bill would exempt the sale of a vessel from the state sales tax if that vessel is docked within the state for less than 60 days and also would exempt the state sales tax on all labor costs performed on existing vessels and repair or maintenance services on vessels. Gov. Daniel Malloy reportedly supports the bill and is expected to sign it into law.
