Bob McCann named lead consultant of MRAA Dealer Certification Program

Bob McCann, recognized as a trailblazing marketer, innovative business development specialist and professional educator, has been named lead consultant of the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas’ Marine Industry Certified Dealership Program.

“We are incredibly excited to have Bob aboard as we continue to evolve the MICD Program,” says Matt Gruhn, President of MRAA. “We expect that his impact will be felt immediately, and that he’ll bring great value to the program and the growing number of dealers who participate in it.”

Bob comes to MRAA after more than 22 years at Channel Blade Technologies and ARI Network Services, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio of web-based training platforms, piloted retail consulting operations and was a key cog in the development of platforms such as TIPS and FootSteps. More than 2,200 marine and RV dealers relied on Bob and his team for Internet sales solutions and modern educational portals.

“Joining the MRAA team feels like a natural fit for me, and I have already been inspired by their multi-pronged approach to improving our industry,” McCann says. “I expect big things in the near future, and being part of this bright, talented team will open new doors for all parties—particularly MRAA members currently enrolled in the Certification Program.”

Bob will hit the ground running and has already begun formulating long-term strategy and development plans for the MICD program—which provides dealers with standards, business processes and best practices to streamline retail operations, increase sales and improve customer and employee satisfaction. More than 300 of the nation’s premier marine dealers currently participate in the program.

Counting some of the biggest names in the boating and powersports industries among his clients, Bob’s extensive professional network, cemented reputation as a trusted resource and proven track record will all combine to add new dimensions to the boating industry’s only Dealership Certification curriculum.

A resident of coastal Florida, boating is a way of life for Bob. He owns a center console boat, eats dockside at his favorite restaurants and enjoys entertaining company on the water. Additionally, he served five years in the U.S. Coast Guard and regularly authors articles and blog posts for publications including Boating Industry, Boat Trader among others.
