Hatteras Yachts unveils plans for new 90 Motor Yacht at 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

FORT LAUDERDALE – John W. S. Ward, president & CEO of Hatteras/CABO Yachts, LLC, announced a new model during a press conference held today at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show: the Hatteras 90 Motor Yacht. The yacht is designed to be consistent with the other models in the builder’s Motor Yacht line, including the Hatteras 100 Raised Pilothouse and the 70 Motor Yacht.

“We are expanding our Motor Yacht series in order to let our customers choose from a larger portfolio to meet their individual needs,” said Ward. “These are semi-custom yachts that give owners a wider range of opportunities for personalization. In addition, we will offer the Hatteras 90 Motor Yacht in both Open and Enclosed Flybridge versions.”

Like its siblings, the new 90 Motor Yacht is built with the Hatteras Yachts’ resin-infused fiberglass construction technology, which ensures the hull has the ideal strength-to-weight ratio. It will also house a recent Hatteras innovation: a fuel tank that is integral to the hull rather than being a separate box, providing greater fuel storage space as well as additional weight-savings.

“The 90 Motor Yacht will have one large integral fuel tank and two smaller tanks, instead of the four or five tanks you might expect to find in a yacht of this size,” said David Brown, Hatteras Yachts director of product design. “We are simplifying the fuel tankage and transfer system.”

The 90 Motor Yacht’s hull has a similar design to that of the 100 Raised Pilothouse and 70 Motor Yachts, with deep hull tunnels in order to keep the draft under five feet. The new 90 Motor Yacht is available with Caterpillar or MTU diesel engines ranging from 1,600 bhp to 1,920 bhp apiece.

The 90 Motor Yacht has a flush main deck with a flexible interior arrangement. The standard layout places the galley forward along with a casual seating and dining area, while the formal dining table and salon lie aft. An optional arrangement moves the galley to amidships and the dining table aft. The new 90 will incorporate a glass skylight that will have a profound effect on the interior, according to Brown. “It’s a feeling of height and light,” he said.

Hatteras Yachts plans to debut the new 90 Motor Yacht at the 2017 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show. For more information, visit www.HatterasYachts.com.
