RIMTA names Michael Keyworth first Rising Tide Award winner
The Rhode Island Marine Trades Association will present its first Rising Tide Award to industry veteran Michael Keyworth for his longtime dedication to the Rhode Island marine industry and the lasting positive changes he has helped to put in place for this Ocean State business sector.
The award presentation will take place at RIMTA’s Annual Meeting & Celebration, November 2 at Newport Vineyards in Middletown, R.I.
“Michael Keyworth is a hero of our industry who personifies the spirit of this award,” said RIMTA CEO Wendy Mackie. “Michael has not only been a valuable member of his own company team, but he has worked tirelessly to make the industry better for us all, knowing that a rising tide lifts all boats. From this point forward, this new award will be named in his honor as the J. Michael Keyworth Rising Tide Award.”
Keyworth, who is general manager and vice president of Barrington’s Brewer Cove Haven Marina, has achieved a long string of accomplishments during his tenure in the industry: from being a key player in helping to establish Rhode Island’s sales-and-use tax policy on recreational boats, to serving as a valued member of Brewer Yacht Yards for 30 years, to working creatively to devise more efficient worker training, to standing as a champion for better managing the marine environment. During his years in the industry, Keyworth has served at RIMTA as a board member, president, and chair of the Legislative Committee.
