Day one keynotes announced for IMBC 2016

WARREN, R.I. – The 2016 International Marina and Boatyard Conference will feature two keynotes to speak at conference on day one. Professional speaker and author Connie Podesta will present the opening keynote address at IMBC, followed by former R.I. governor candidate and motivational speaker/communications professional John Robitaille. The conference will take place on January 27-29, 2016 at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

“This is perhaps the strongest opening lineup IMBC has ever presented in its 13-year history,” AMI Chair Jeff Rose, CMM, says. “Our attendees are always looking for ways to strengthen their businesses, we are confident these sessions will help them find success in both their business and life.”

Podesta’s session “The Power of Accountability, Empowerment and Ownership,” and “The Power of Relationships and Communication” is a combined customized exclusively for the IMBC and will be held on January 28, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.

During this session, Podesta will take attendees into the minds of even their most difficult employees and turn negative attitudes into positive, entitlement into accountability, complacency into productivity, complaining into solutions and “that’s not my job” into ownership. Podesta, will also both challenge and empower attendees with the knowledge they need to get along better with the people in their lives.

Immediately following IMBC’s opening keynote on January 28, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. will be Robitaille’s session, “How Leaders Communicate to Win,” which will talk about the importance of understanding the human side of communication and the need to be authentic, while at the same time being aware of how all five basic human senses come into play. Beyond the typical hype and clichés about effective communication, John shares his first hand experiences in handling crisis situations, facing personal tragedies, negotiating labor agreements, interacting with customers, colleagues, employees, the media and the general public.

Both speakers will follow the morning keynotes with an afternoon breakout session in which participants can investigate further into the questions or comments they had from the earlier morning sessions.
