Same-store boat dealer sales flat for August
Same-store boat dealer sales in August were essentially unchanged from a year ago, CDK Global Recreation reported Thursday.
The monthly report, based on information from users of CDK’s Lightspeed software, showed overall August sales up 0.5 percent from August 2014.
The gain was driven completely by service department revenue, which grew 7.8 percent from August 2014 — the only category to see an increase in revenue for the month. It was the seventh month in a row that same-store service department revenue grew.
Boat sales were basically flat, down 0.3 percent from last year. That was the first monthly decline for unit sales since January.
Parts sales were down for the second straight month, declining 2.2 percent in August after a 0.7 percent drop in July. It was the third month of the last four that same-store parts revenue declined.
