For the first time, the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) and the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) are teaming up at the 2015 NMEA Conference & Expo to provide member benefits for both organizations. ABYC is offering a Fast Trac Marine Electrical Certification with significant discounts for NMEA and ABYC members. Additionally, ABYC members will receive the same discounted conference registration pricing as NMEA members.
The NMEA Conference is being held Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2015, in Baltimore and ABYC’s Fast Trac Marine Electrical Certification will be held the day before the start of the conference on Sept. 28 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Unlike the customary ABYC education programing, which consisted of a four day class and a test, the Fast Trac is an option in which most of the study is done independently. While classroom time is limited to one day, students have access to the instructor during the preceding the review/test day. Registrants of the certification class will receive a free one day pass to attend the NMEA Conference & Expo.
“ABYC is pleased to have the opportunity to present our Fast Trac Marine Electrical Certification program in conjunction with the NMEA annual meeting in Baltimore this year, said Ed Sherman, vice president/education director of ABYC. Additionally, ABYC is currently collaborating with the NMEA education committee on training initiatives that are sure to be industry game changers in 2016.”
“We are thrilled that ABYC is deeply involved with our 2015 NMEA conference, said Mark Reedenauer, president/executive director of NMEA. “The fact that ABYC is exhibiting, offering their Marine Electrical Certification, and presenting an ABYC Standards Update at the conference indicates a huge positive step to the industry and the first of many that I see moving into 2016.”
