RFA counsel named to International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced the alternate appointment of Raymond Bogan as US Commissioner to the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).  Under the Atlantic Tunas Convention Act (ATCA), the United States is represented by three Commissioners (one from the government, one with knowledge of commercial fisheries, and one with knowledge of recreational fisheries).

As authorized under ATCA, the Department of State has appointed Bogan, long serving RFA General Counsel, in an Alternate status. He will serve as the U.S. Commissioner representing recreational interests until a Presidential appointment is made.  Bogan is a lifelong recreational fisherman and practicing attorney from New Jersey whose clients include party and charterboat operators, bait and tackle dealers, and other associated marine businesses. He has served on the ICCAT Advisory Committee for more than two decades and is well-versed in the ICCAT process and the issues of concern to U.S recreational fishermen in Atlantic highly migratory species (HMS) fisheries.
