Miami, Key Biscayne meet for mediation on boat show
The city of Miami and village of Key Biscayne are continuing mediation efforts even as the village files a third lawsuit to try and block the Miami International Boat Show’s move to Miami Marine Stadium, Law 360 reported.
In the latest suit, the village has petitioned Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit for a writ of certiorari to quash a certificate of appropriateness granted by the city’s Historic Preservation and Environmental Preservation Board and the Miami City Commission. That permission was needed because some of the construction is on stadium grounds that have a historic designation.
Key Biscayne claims that permission was improperly granted and was unnecessarily rushed.
It is the third suit the village has filed to try and block the show.
The village first sued the city of Miami in January, citing traffic impact and other concerns. In April, Key Biscayne also filed suit against the National Marine Manufacturers Association, accusing the association of violating open records laws.
Since Key Biscayne hold a tennis match each year that draws 300,000; why doesn’t the city of Miami sue Key Biscayne for the same overcrowding and traffic problems they are claiming against the boat show. That will cause Key Biscayne to go on the defensive and hopefully back off.
