ABYC reduces recertification costs for technicians

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) announced a new pricing structure that will create significant savings for technicians working toward multiple certifications in the same calendar year. Additionally, ABYC will no longer charge students for study guides for re-certifications.

“After a routine survey asking our certified technicians what we could do to improve our services for them one thing was clear, our pricing was a bit too high and needed to change,” said Ed Sherman, vice president/education director of ABYC. “This new pricing structure is in direct response to our constituent base requests.”

The new pricing structure, including the free study guides, has the following outcome for technicians:

  • One certification – $75 savings
  • Two certifications – $180 savings
  • Three certifications – $325 savings

The new cost for three or more re-certifications is $179 each certification as compared to the traditional $249 price point.

ABYC offers eight different marine certifications, classes for which are held around the country. To find out more about ABYC Certifications and the new pricing structure, visit www.abycinc.org.
