Florida Yacht Brokers Association names Cynthia Sailor as new executive director

Cindy Sailor FORD LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA) Board of Directors has named Cynthia “Cindy” Sailor executive director of the association, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The appointment became effective April 1, 2015.

Cindy Sailor CS-014-FMs. Sailor, who has a long and extensive background in the recreational marine industry, joins FYBA from Active Interest Media’s (AIM) highly acclaimed Power & Motoryacht magazine where she was associate publisher.

In that position, she oversaw much of the magazine’s daily operations, including managing the sales and marketing team, new product and marketing plan development, implementation and participation in national and international boat shows, website redesign, and implementation of customer and industry events.

Other positions she held at AIM include managing BoatQuest, Show Directories and the publication of Fort Lauderdale Today. Her publishing career includes 25 years with various non-marine-related publishing groups, including Computer Reseller News, headquartered in Garden City, N.Y.; Penton Publishing, based in Cleveland, Ohio, and Lebhar-Friedman, located in Manhattan in New York, N.Y.

“The Board of Directors has set an aggressive agenda for 2015, and I am very excited to work with each of them on those goals,” said Ms. Sailor. “I am particularly excited to work on the legislative initiatives at the American Boating Congress meeting next month in Washington, D.C, and developing a closer relationship with our partners at the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation in Tallahassee. Adding new memberships beyond our core area of Broward County and new services to our current member base also will be key targets for the organization in 2015 and beyond.”

Over the next several months, the Board of Directors plans to implement extensive goals that were set at the Annual Planning session in January.

“We are very excited to have someone of Cindy’s caliber to steer our ship,” said Gary Smith, president of FYBA’s Board of Directors. “I can think of nobody better suited to tackle such an aggressive agenda, and we are extremely lucky to have her on board. Cindy completes our super staff, which includes Director of Operations, Shay Loudenslager and Communications Director, June Watt.”
