IMI awards certifications to CMMs and CMOs at 2015 IMBC

WARREN, R.I. — The International Marina Institute (IMI), the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), awarded certifications to eight marina professionals as Certified Marina Managers (CMM) and one marina professional as a Certified Marina Operator (CMO) at the AMI-produced 2015 International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) in Tampa, FL on January 29. The CMM and CMO designations recognize and distinguish the most highly qualified marina managers and operators throughout the world.

IMI’s newest CMMs include Rion Salley Jr. of Port Royal Landing (Port Royal, SC), Michael Short of Vancouver Marina (Richmond, BC), John Swick of Marinas International (Dallas TX), Marieke van Peer of Miami Beach Marina (Miami Beach, FL), Cliff Lewis of Bayport Marina (Bayport, MN), Colette Carter of Cottonwood Cove Marina (Searchlight, NV), Barry Armband of Harbour Towne Marina (Dania Beach, FL), and Joe Harms of River Heights Marina (Inver Grove Heights, MN). IMI’s newest CMO is Greg Carter of Cottonwood Cove Marina (Searchlight, NV).

With these newest awardees, there are currently 332 CMMs and 14 CMOs worldwide. In addition to marina management experience, CMM/CMO candidates must complete Intermediate and Advanced Marina Management courses available through IMI. The next AMI-offered Intermediate Marina Management course is scheduled for February 22-26, 2015 in Charleston, SC and its next Marina Management course on February 22–27, 2015 in Charleston, SC.
