An institution and foundation of the professional water-sports industry for the past 23 years, the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour will continue to push new boundaries with progressive, high-profile changes in 2015 and beyond. The 2015 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour will feature the Supra Boats SE550 as the official tow boat, alongside the largest pro men’s purse in its history, unprecedented exposure to the masses with innovative digital-video distribution, more than 30 webisodes of premium content showcasing world-class athletes and sponsor coverage, a special and extra issue of WAKEBOARDING Magazine highlighting Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour and customized on-site audience experiences.
“Supra Boats and the family at Skier’s Choice is ecstatic to headline the four-stop Pro Wakeboard Tour in 2015 and beyond. We have been in the market for over 35 years and always strive to revolutionize the industry with innovative products. At the end of last year’s World Wakeboard Championships, we had an overwhelming number of rider responses and knew then that we had the product to pursue the Pro Wakeboard Tour,” said Rick Tinker, president of Skier’s Choice, manufacturer of Supra Boats. “The PWT athletes can expect to see extreme wakes that set the new industry standard in the business throughout the season, and we are excited that Bonnier Corp.’s Events & Entertainment Group’s 23-year track record of experience will create unprecedented exposure for the sport and Supra, more than any tour in the past.”
The Supra SE550 is the official tow boat for the elite tour because of its clean, consistent and massive wakes. The Supra Boats’ wakes are expected to push pros to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for the driver and judges in the boat. The 2015 Supra Boats are powered with the high-torque 6.2L Ford Raptor Engine by Indmar.
“We are excited to partner with Supra Boats to power the tour,” said Scott Clack, vice president of Indmar. “The PWT is the proving ground for the highest-performing boats and motors in the industry.” Shawn Perry, editor-in-chief of WAKEBOARDING, later said, “After testing the Supra Boats SE550 and seeing it perform at other events, it seems like the obvious choice of tow boat for the new 2015 PWT.”
The special Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour edition of WAKEBOARDING Magazine is an additional issue full of insider information. Distribution will include polybag with the June issue of WAKEBOARDING and extended digital distribution to WAKEBOARDING and Boating brands’ digital audiences.
“Bonnier Corp.’s Events & Entertainment Group is able to offer unparalleled consumer engagement and value to our marketing partners,” said Hickman. “This expanded partnership between Bonnier Corp. and Supra Boats puts the full force of the WAKEBOARDING brand and our teams of audience experts behind the biggest series in wake: the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour.”
The 2015 tour is converting to 100 percent digital-video distribution, resulting in a tenfold audience exposure increase over cable TV distribution of the past. More than 30 webisodes highlighting Supra Boats wake performance, athletes and sponsors and fan experiences will be produced.
“We have worked closely with Supra Boats to create a completely new experience for the athletes and fans,” said tournament director Chris Bischoff. “From lessons and clinics, to the hospitality pavilion and more, athletes and spectators will be more engaged than ever before.”
Customized on-site and interactive audience experiences along with a variety of demonstrations have been added to the four stops, including: in-boat, during-competition VIP rides; on-the-water boat demonstrations; wakesurfing demonstrations; on-water and dry-land clinics/lessons from the pros; and an elite hospitality pavilion.
The largest pro men’s purse in the history of the Pro Wakeboard Tour will be awarded at the conclusion of each of the four events taking place on Saturdays only, with the exception of the first stop beginning on a Friday with a chance to qualify for the first competition.
