Marine dealers capped off 2014 with their best month of the year for sales growth.
With a 31.2 percent gain in unit sales leading the way, marine dealers had robust year-over-year same-store sales increases in December, according to a report from CDK Global Recreation today.
The December report, based on data from user's of CDK's Lightspeed DMS, showed a 24.7 percent increase in same-store sales compared to December 2013. It was the 11th straight month of year-over-year same-store sales gains, third month of the last four where dealers posted double-digit increases and best number of 2014.
December's jump in boat sales was also the largest monthly figure of the year, well ahead of November's 15.4 percent increase.
While the jump in boat sales was particularly impressive, sales were up across the board. Service department revenue increased for the fourth-straight month, up 20.4 percent, the best rate in nearly two years. Parts revenue, while up only 2.1 percent compared to December 2013, increased for the ninth month in a row.
