Tohatsu announces the discontinuation of Nissan Marine outboards

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Tohatsu America Corp. (TAC), N. America distributor of Tohatsu outboards, announced today that Nissan Marine Co. Ltd. Of Japan will discontinue certain segments of their marine business, including the production of the Nissan Marine brand of outboard engines.

Due to the declining Japanese market demand for pleasure boats, which is Nissan Marine’s core product, they have reached the conclusion to discontinue the production of Nissan Marine boats and outboards worldwide.

“The decision by Nissan Marine in no way affects the sales and production of the Tohatsu brand,” said Hiroshi Wakabayashi, TAC president. “We are deeply committed to the North American market, and our parent company, Tohatsu Corporation, will continue to strongly support the Tohatsu brand worldwide.”

The sale of new Nissan Marine outboards will be terminated once the existing inventory is depleted, but Tohatsu will continue to provide service and support for all remaining Nissan Marine engines in the marketplace.
