Boating Industry names Jim Lane, Buck Pegg Movers & Shakers of the Year

TAMPA – Chaparral and Robalo’s Jim Lane and Buck Pegg were named the Boating Industry Movers & Shakers of the Year in a ceremony here Tuesday morning.

Editor-in-chief Jonathan Sweet presented the marine industry veterans with their awards during the annual IBEX Industry Breakfast, as well as recognizing the three other finalists for this year’s award:

  • Bill McGill, MarineMax
  • Frank Peterson, Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation
  • Alain Villemure, BRP

“Even though many of these individuals have decades of experience in the industry, this is no career achievement award,” Sweet said during the ceremony. “It’s not about what happened 20 years ago or even a decade ago. It’s about how these leaders are impacting the industry today.”

Sweet cited Chaparral’s heavy investment in its employees, its dealers and product development during the recession as being key reasons for the choice of Pegg and Lane as this year’s winners.

“From the entry-level Chaparral H20 to its new jet boat to a wave of new products from Robalo, the company continues to innovate and invest in the future,” Sweet said.
