Discover Boating brings press to British Virgin Islands

Garnering favorable coverage for the marine industry as a whole, the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s Discover Boating arm organized a press flotilla in the British Virgin Islands resulting in a feature article in an upcoming issue of the widely circulated Coastal Living magazine.

As part of the press adventure, which took place in November 2011, Coastal Living Editor-in-Chief Antonia van der Meer accompanied other journalists on a multi-day trip through the British Virgin Islands aboard a fleet of sailboats that began in Tortola and explored countless islands and regional destinations. The story appeared in the December 2012/January 2013 issue of Coastal Living. It will also be uploaded to the publication’s website at a later date.

With a print circulation of 671,510 and 188,812 estimated monthly site visitors. According to the website, “Coastal Living introduces readers to homes, destinations, activities and people along the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf shores of North America, Hawaii, Alaska, coastal Canada and Mexico, as well as the multi-national Caribbean islands and U.S. Great Lakes.”

Discover Boating is a public awareness effort managed by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) on behalf of the North American recreational boating industry. Discover Boating programs focus on increasing participation and creating interest in recreational boating by demonstrating the benefits, affordability and accessibility of the boating lifestyle while helping to educate potential boaters and offering opportunities to experience the fun and togetherness of being on the water on a boat. Each year nearly 70 million people in the U.S. enjoy boating, the recreational activity that “connects like no other.

  1. Since my Grow Boating Contributions are clearly spent on feel good trips to the British Virgin Islands for the Coastal Living Magazine writers and editors, who’s magazine is about coastal living. Coastal Living includes boating, unless of course I am not understanding the magazines content. So with all of that said, I would like to be the next pampered writer. I would like 10 days in the U.S. Virgin Islands, no need to go outside the U.S. and have to deal with customs. I am going to have to research every facit of boating. Discover Boating will have to bring everything needed for a great experience. In return I will provide the cover and the feature article for my newly formed magazine Great Lakes Coastal Living. I would include in the article a break down of all cost incurred to send me, staff and all the equipment necessary to perform the research for this great front page article.

I am certain you will take up this offer
