PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Pensacola Yacht Club is looking to be certified by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s green marina program, which recruits marinas to adopt environmentally clean, or green, practices beyond what’s mandated.
Within Florida, 247 marinas — or about 10 percent — have signed on to the program.
The program is voluntary, and just because a marina isn’t designated “clean” does not mean it’s “dirty,” according to the Pensacola News Journal. According to the article, some marinas don’t have the resources to implement the program.
