N.Y. claims disputed yacht club land

MAMARONECK, N. Y. — The State of New York has asserted a claim that it owns land that the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club plans to use for expansion.

In a July 26 letter, the state’s Office of General Services claimed that the state owns a disputed half-acre of land proposed for club-built housing.

The legal right to the parcel of land has been the subject of debate.

Joel Sachs, an attorney representing the club, told LoHud.com news site that the club will cooperate with the state and apply to buy the land. He also says that the club has a deed and a title insurance policy to the land.

The proposed construction project would make 23 seasonal units.
