International Yacht Restoration School raises nearly $700,000 at Gala
NEWPORT, R.I.– The 14th Annual International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) Summer Gala on July 9 raised nearly $700,000 for IYRS educational programs, according to an IYRS release.
Approximately 700 people attended the Gala, which featured live and silent auctions featuring art objects, sailing opportunities and unique travel opportunities, according to the release.
“We are fortunate that our many supporters understand the important role that our school plays—both for our students in search of skills and opportunity, and for the region’s marine industry that relies on the talented workforce trained here at IYRS,” IYRS President Terry Nathan said in the release.
The Gala followed a successful chapter at IYRS that graduated the largest class in the school’s history, 85 percent of which have already secured jobs, according to the release.
