Ocean trash becomes art at Marine Mammal Center
SAUSALITO, Calif. — The Marine Mammal Center has a new exhibit called Washed Ashore: Plastics, Seal Life and Art.
The display features 15 larger-than-life sculptures made of 7,000 pounds of garbage scavenged from 20 miles of Oregon beach. It was created by artist Angela Haseltime Pozzi.
The point of the exhibit is to allow viewers to consider ocean trash and the connection to their own health, ocean health and the impact of personal action. The sculptures are of marine life most affected by trash in the oceans.
The exhibit runs through Oct. 15.
