Man pleads guilty to stealing from boat company

HIGHALNDVILLE, Mo. — Patrick Ayres pleaded guilty in Taney County Circuit Court to stealing from Sport Boats USA in Ozark.

Ayres, who was the company’s service manager, admitted that he gave Sport Boats USA invoices from companies that he or his family owned. Sport Boats paid the invoices, but did not receive products or services in return. He also admitted to misapplying extended warranty claims for several years.

Ayres was charged in April 2009 after accountants for Sport Boats USA found nearly $200,000 in misappropriated funds in November 2008.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 15. Ayers could face up to one year in the county jail or one to seven years in the Department of Corrections and/or a fine up to $5,000, according to the Springfield News Leader.
