LARGO, Fla. — A fire behind the Largo Marine Max destroyed two yachts and damaged other vessels on June 16.
According to reports, the fire started at about 11 p.m. on a 39-foot Meridian boat and spread to the others, including a 44-foot Meridian, before firefighters could contain the blaze.
Firefighters had difficulty reaching the vessels due to a locked gate, and a short dock and winds hampered the process.
According to a report by ABC Action News, the 39-foot boat, valued at $260,000, was a trade-in on the 44-footer, valued at $550,000.
The total loss is estimated at $1 million.
