Santa Cruz yards struggle to service damaged boats
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The March 11 tsunami that hit California’s Monterey Bay has left Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor inundated with boat inspections and repairs, leaving some boaters waiting for months before their damaged boats are serviced, according to an article from the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
With about 100 boats “pretty mangled,” one boat yard needed to hire additional workers to handle the number of inspections coming in from clients whose boats were damaged by the tsunami, according to the newspaper.
The tsunami caused more than $28.5 million in damage to Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor, including extensive damage to the docks.
