Wisconsin dealer sentenced for fraud

MINONG, Wis. — A former boat dealer was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in three fraud schemes.

Leonard Kolschowsky, 68, was sentenced by a U.S. district court for making false statements on a loan applications and a bankruptcy scheme. He pleaded guilty in March, stating that he was responsible for almost $1 million in fraudulent conduct.

Kolschowsky formerly owned the Boat Depot in Minong. The fraud was committed starting in 2000. The fraud was discovered and he fled the U.S. in 2003 as he was negotiating a guilty plea. He was found in Brazil in 2008 and was extradited to the U.S. in November, 2010, according to the Superior Telegram.
