Laborde donates supplies to tornado survivors

COVINGTON, La. — Engine distributor Laborde Products donated personal supplies to residents of Joplin, Mo., who sustained losses in recent tornadoes.

The company collected 750 pounds of supplies, donated by employees and vendors. Items collected included soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, paper products, sunscreen and trash bags. The drive was coordinated by Laborde’s office manager Julie Davis, a former Joplin resident.

“The drive was a personal effort for me to help my hometown overcome this disaster of significant magnitude,” said Davis. “Although the core of Joplin has been destroyed, residents and volunteers are determined to rebuild, as many of us did after Katrina.”
