Sea-Fire aids in stream clean up
BALTIMORE, Md. — Sea-Fire Marine, together with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, recently hosted a cleanup site as part of Project Clean Stream, an annual event where over 5,000 volunteers from across the Chesapeake Bay region choose a stream from which to pick up trash.
Forty percent of Sea-Fire employees participated and removed 64 bags of trash. Sea-Fire’s cleanup site is a portion of White Marsh Run that flows just behind the company’s office in Baltimore.
“Sea-Fire understands its role as a citizen of the Chesapeake Bay region and is constantly working to promote and ensure a cleaner and safer environment,” Ernie Ellis, Sea-Fire president, said in a release. “I’m very glad Sea-Fire employees volunteered for such a worthy cause.”
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay has coordinated Project Clean Stream for eight years in conjunction with partnering watershed organizations. In 2011, more than 5,000 volunteers turned out at over 220 cleanup sites to remove an estimated 300,000 lbs. of trash and debris from streams and wooded areas.
Sea-Fire Marine provides FM-200 engineered and pre-engineered marine fire suppression systems and accessories that are environmentally-friendly.
