Carolina Electric Boats changes name
RESEARCH TRIANGLE, N.C. — Carolina Electric Boats has changed its name to Freedom Electric Marine, according to a release from the company.
“We are very excited about the new brand identity and the outlook for electric boating in general,” Frank Jones, president and general partner of Freedom Electric, said in a statement. “The name stems from the fact that with one of our boats, you’re freeing yourself to better enjoy your time on the water.”
According to Roscoe Worth-Jones, marketing manager for Freedom Electric, the new name will help the company become more international.
“We changed the name for a couple of reasons,” Worth-Jones said. “We love Carolina and it’s been our home for most of our lives, but there were other brands of boats in the marketplace with ‘Carolina’ in their names and that was creating some confusion with consumers. We wanted to alleviate that confusion and at the same time, position ourselves to become an international brand. We believe that the name ‘Freedom Electric’ accurately conveys the core element of our value proposition and also allows us to sidestep the aforementioned branding issues that we faced with ‘Carolina Electric.'”
