Westlawn Institute’s boat design program receives accreditation

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology’s Yacht and Boat Design Program was recently accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, according to a release from the RINA.

A nonprofit educational affiliate for the American Boat and Yacht Council, Westlawn was accredited after the RINA determined the program meets the standards for accreditation by preparing its students for yacht and boat design, according to the release.

“Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology has a well deserved international reputation for its programmes, and it is a pleasure for the Royal Institution of Naval Architects as an international professional society to accredit its Yacht & Boat Design Course,” RINA Chief Executive Trevor Blakeley said in the release.

The RINA is a professional institution with members in more than 90 countries that are involved in the design, construction repair and operation of marine vessels.

The Westlawn Institue of Marine Technology is the only nationally accredited distance-learning school of small-craft design in the United States, according to the release.
