Southern California boat shows launch summer season

ORANGE, Calif. — Southern Californians can enjoy a diverse selection of powerboats, sailboats, yachts, personal watercraft, trailers, engines and marine accessories at two boat shows this month.

MarinaFest will take place on May 14-15 in Marina del Rey at the G Basin and Pier 44 Slips. The festival will include powerboats, sailboats, yachts and accessories; free sailboat rides and sailing lessons; and a free stand-up paddle-boarding clinic. There will also be Bubble Roller Water Balls that allow you to walk, jump and roll on water without getting wet. Food and beverages will be sold by the Rotary Club of Playa Venice. Special guests include young sailors Zac and Abby Sunderland.

The inaugural Orange County Boat Show and Sportfishing Festival will be held at the Orange County Fairgrounds on May 21-22. The event is organized by the Southern California Marine Association and Pacific Coast Sportfishing Magazine and will feature new boats, personal watercraft, trailers, engines, and marine accessories.
