Wisconsin dealers weather economic storm

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Wisconsin boat dealers offer mixed stories on slow sales in the past few years, according to an article Appleton Post Crescent. Some are optimistic about the 2011 season.

The main issues at hand are high fuel prices and the inconsistent weather that’s made for a late start to boating.

Dealers say Northeastern Wisconsin dealers have not felt the effects of the economy as much as other boat shops.

“People still want to have fun and go fishing,” Jay Vander Loop, owner and manager of Ken’s Sports in Kaukauna, told the paper. “(Sales) are still good, it’s not terrible. … We’re actually doing pretty well. Many places are out of business or down 50 percent and really struggling.”
