STUART, Fla. — Commissioners in Martin County Florida recently voted to approve a $24,000 financial incentive for a California-based sailboat builder to move east. The state would also add $123,000 to the package.
The name of the company has not been released, but relocation to Florida could mean 41 new jobs for the area, according to a report from the local CBS affiliate. If the company chooses the Florida site, it’s expected it would spend $1 million for a 20,000 square foot building that could build 22-foot sailboats and trailers.
Other cities in the running include locations in South Carolina, Mexico, Vietnam and China. The company will choose a location by June 1.
