Boat dealer admits to swindle
TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A former New Jersey boat dealer has admitted swindling customers and will be required to repay about $60,000 in restitution under an agreement with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press. He could face up to five years in prison.
The dealer, Todd Grossman of Anchor Outboards, plead guilty to third-degree theft for neglecting to send consignment proceeds to the original owner and for not giving titles to new boat owners, according to the report.
He was initially accused of swindling about $128,000, but was able to provide some boat owners with titles.
