Brunswick distributes safety awards

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Brunswick Corp. recently announced the recipients of its safety awards for 2010.

Three facilities received the Chairman’s Safety Award, the company’s highest award, while 21 additional facilities were recognized with Distinguished Awards for their 2010 safety performance.  In all, 36 facilities were cited by Brunswick for achieving no lost-time incidents during 2010

The purpose of the program is to encourage, recognize and reward employees and facilities that have achieved outstanding safety and health performance through promoting and practicing safety awareness, ultimately minimizing workplace incidents and injuries.  All Brunswick manufacturing and distribution facilities worldwide are eligible for such recognition.

The three facilities earning the Chairman’s Safety Award are: Edgewater, Fla., Brunswick Commercial and Government Products; Taycheedah, Wis., Mercury Marine Racing; and Palm Cost, Fla., Brunswick Recreational Boats.  
 
As Chairman’s Safety Award recipients, each of these facilities will receive a $10,000 grant from Brunswick, which will be donated to a local charity chosen by the plant.  Additionally, the Palm Coast facility achieved 6 million hours worked without a lost-time incident in December 2010, and the Taycheedah facility achieved one million hours without a lost-time incident in January 2010.
 
Also of note among the plants being recognized for their safety achievements are Fond du Lac, Wis.; Franklin Park, Ill.; Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Lebanon, Mo.; Pompano Beach, Fla.; Muskegon, Mich.; Suzhou, China; Ramsey, Minn.; and the Sykes Creek plant in Merritt Island, Fla. All of which have recently achieved 1 million continuous hours without sustaining a lost-time incident.
