CASTINE, Maine — Marine businesses and marinas can now reach users of ActiveCaptain marine navigation software via its new 1st Choice program, which is now live on the ActiveCaptain website and in partner navigation programs.
To qualify for 1st Choice status a marina must receive consistently high reviews from the boaters who access ActiveCaptain. Only 3 percent of marinas qualify today — a minimum number of reviews is required along with a very high average "star" rating, according to the company.
Marinas who sign up for the 1st Choice program receive a highlighted designation on the ActiveCaptain website and in partner navigation software, access to the copyrighted 1st Choice logo for display on their website, in newsletters, and other marketing communications, 1st Choice stickers for onsite promotion, and mention in ActiveCaptain newsletters and other promotional material.
For marinas that do not qualify for 1st Choice status, ActiveCaptain said it has other sponsor programs that provide modern marketing products. ActiveCaptain says it is also eager to work with marinas to help them with their marketing and understand ways to use the Internet to improve business.
