BoatUS sends last call for grant applications

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The deadline for BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water grants is April 1. The program offers individual grants of up to $4,000 for boating safety and clean water projects.

New to the grant program this year, applicants are encouraged to upload photos and videos showcasing their proposed project ideas or anything else that will convey their vision. Once the grant applications are received in early April, the foundation will post the most creative applications online, where the public will vote to decide which projects receive funding later this spring.

Past grant-winning projects include flying a blimp with safety messages above popular boating spots, producing radio public service announcements and installing signs at boat ramps highlighting the threat of invasive species. In the last 23 years, the foundation has awarded more than $1 million to organizations that have developed creative projects to promote safe and clean boating on their local waterways.
