Garmin teams up with rescue group

HAMPSHIRE, United Kingdom — Garmin Ltd. and the rescue group Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) have formed a partnership.

According to a blog post on Garmin’s website, Garmin customers who purchase a GPSMAP 72H,78 and 78s marine handheld will enter the RNLI ambassador scheme and receive a year’s introductory membership to the RNLI. Benefits of this membership include the quarterly RNLI magazines Lifeboat & Offshore, which offer tips and advice on how to stay safe on the water.

Nigel Craine, European Marine OEM Sales Manager, said, “We are delighted to be able to support such an important charity and feel it fits in perfectly with the large number of our customers who use the sea for recreation and rely on the RNLI if ever in need.”

Richard Devereux, RNLI Leisure Marine Marketing Manager, said, “As a charity, we rely on donations to fund the lifesaving work of our volunteer crews and I’d like to thank Garmin and their customers for their support. By signing up to give regular donations, RNLI members provide us with a reliable form of financial support that allows us to continue to save lives at sea and plan for the future.”
