Idaho starts mandatory boat inspections

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho’s mandatory boat inspections started March 15 for those wishing to recreate in the state’s waters. The inspection is meant to halt the introduction of invasive species, such as quagga and zebra mussels.

The Wallace, Idaho, station is the first to open. Stations in south will open earlier this year and additional stations will open as the boating season progresses.

The inspections include a physical inspection as well as questions asked of the boat owner regarding the boat’s use in the prior 30 days.
