Dealers: Beware of boating scam
PEORIA, Ill. — Boat and powersports dealers in Illinois are reporting a scam to clear non-current inventory, according to a story by television station KFVS.
The scam involves a solicitation from Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based The Auction House. The business claims it can sell end-of-the-year inventory for top dollar, but has not paid dealers after the equipment is sold, according to the story.
Three businesses in the Peoria area have sent inventory to The Auction House and report more than $200,000 worth of lost inventory.
