Industry partners offer Marine Service Management course

WARREN, R.I. — The American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA) in partnership with the Marine Systems Training Center (MSTC) will offer the Marine Service Management (MSM) course this November, the associations reported in a recent statement.

The next MSM course is scheduled for Nov. 3–6 at the MSTC in Thomaston, Maine.

“We feel this course is the start of a great relationship between our two associations, and a great opportunity for both memberships to have convenient access to high quality training” said Tuesdi Woodworth, director of the MSTC, a program of the Maine Marine Trades Association.

Now in its seventh year, ABBRA’s MSM class caters specifically toward professionals in boatyards and marine service and repair centers, according to the association. ABBRA’s instructors present MSM participants with pointers in such nontechnical topics as human-resource development, financial controls, customer relations, codes and standards, marketing and sales, and more. The MSM is also a prerequisite to obtain ABBRA’s Certified Marine Service Manager designation.

The ABBRA member rate of $1,749 for this course is being extended to members of the Maine Marine Trades Association as part of this partnership. Course fees includes lunch daily, one group dinner, an opening reception, all course texts and handouts, and technical consultation with faculty.
