Michigan Clean Marina Program wins MSAE award
LIVONIA, Mich.—The Michigan Clean Marina Program won the MSAE’s Gold Honorable Mention Award for Innovative Collaboration. The award was presented at the Diamond Awards dinner, designed to recognize excellence and innovations in associations.
The Michigan Clean Marina program began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the MBIA, Michigan Sea Grant College, and the Department of Environmental Quality in 2005. The group has joined forces with the Michigan Department of Labor, Energy and Economic Growth.
The program was initiated to preserve and protect, through voluntary efforts, Michigan’s greatest resource, the Great Lakes and its connecting waterways.
“The Michigan Clean Marina Program is an excellent example of a collaborative effort between a trade association, the university system and state government,” said Van Snider, CAE, president of the MBIA, in a recent release from the company. “We are very pleased that this beneficial program has been recognized as an outstanding partnership program by MSAE.”
Currently, Michigan has 38 Certified Clean Marinas.
