In brief: Nauticomp, American Boat and Yacht Council
Marine displays manufacturer Nauticomp has appointed Bob Chew to direct sales in the U.S. for its product line. Previously employed by Interphase Technologies, Chew has more than 30 years of marine OEM and aftermarket sales and marketing experience. He will be headquartered at the Nauticomp U.S. sales office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The American Boat and Yacht Council will host a Webinar on Metallurgical Factors as Part of Corrosion Analysis on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. (EDT). During the presentation, ABYC’s curriculum developer, lead instructor and marine technical author will discuss and compare the actual findings of two different materials analysis labs that looked at a bronze component that failed, causing a $1.6 million dollar boat to sink in its slip. “This is a fascinating case study that will benefit those in boat and yacht design; production and materials procurement, maintenance and repair, surveyors, marine insurance personnel and the legal community,” Skip Burdon, ABYC’s President, said in a release.
